Push the empty air wedge into the car door gap and pump it up carefully so that you can get through the gap with the opening tools.
Advantages over a "normal" air cushion: Wedge-shaped underside makes it easier to insert rigid materials. It can be inserted into very stable car door gaps with greater force.
